Manchester United star Marcus Rashford fired a cheeky swipe at one club legend after he returned to training ahead of his side’s FA Cup clash against Newport County.

Marcus Rashford has been criticised this season over his run of form, with the 26-year-old United star only scoring four times in 20 Premier League appearances.

However, the England international impressed on Manchester United’s last Premier League outing against Tottenham at Old Trafford this month.

Rashford linked up superbly well with Rasmus Hojlund and was even set up by the United striker in the 2-2 draw against Spurs.

The United star has scored in back-to-back Premier League matches, with Rashford finding the back of the net against Nottingham Forest near the end of 2023.

Rashford is now looking ahead to United’s FA Cup tie against Newport County and couldn’t resist the opportunity to drop a cheeky reference about Roy Keane.

What did Roy Keane say about Rashford?

Keane took aim at Marcus Rashford over his celebration in the Tottenham clash, with the United legend questioning why the player seemed to be “upset” with everyone.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “I don’t know what that is all about [referring to Rashford’s celebration].

“We need to see more; he’s shown it before, and he’s got the quality.

“Why does he seem to be upset with everybody? He’s got to go and enjoy it, he’s playing for Man United.”

Following on from the match, one United fan claimed Rashford’s celebration was in reference to the abuse he received after commenting on Jadon Sancho’s post.

Rashford responded to the Manchester United fan by thanking them for “clarifying this matter.”

Rashford’s response to Keane’s comment

Rashford took to Instagram and shared photos of him in training, with the United forward appearing to make reference to Keane’s remarks in his post.

“‘So, he does smile.’ Have a great day, my people!” Rashford wrote to his 17m followers, posting a smiling face emoji and a heart emoji in the caption.

Rashford featured in United’s third-round FA Cup win over Wigan and picked up an assist in the 2-0 away victory at the DW Stadium.

Erik ten Hag’s men travel to the Rodney Parade for their fourth-round FA Cup tie against Newport County on Sunday, with kick-off slated for 4:30pm UK time.
