Man Utd fans all in agreement as Anthony Martial suffers major injury setback, it’s very telling

Manchester United fans have dropped their two cents on Anthony Martial after the French striker has been ruled out of action due to injury.

Anthony Martial has fallen down the pecking order at United after the Red Devils completed their £72m acquisition of Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A side Atalanta.

The 28-year-old Manchester United forward’s future has been cast in doubt in recent weeks ahead of his contract with the Premier League club expiring in the summer.

Erik ten Hag had previously refused to rule out the possibility that United could renew Martial’s deal, with the club having the option to trigger a one-year extension.

However, it appears United are unlikely to trigger an extension to Martial’s current deal and the Frenchman will likely walk from Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Is Martial’s United time up?

Anthony Martial has been limited to 19 appearances across all competitions this season, with the United star scoring twice and registering two assists.

The former France international hasn’t played for Manchester United since his side’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth at Old Trafford.

Martial was absent for United due to illness over the Christmas period and Ten Hag has been without the player for his side’s last seven matches across all competitions.

The former France striker will now be out of action for United for around 10 weeks after he successfully underwent surgery on his injury.

“Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has completed successful surgery to address a groin complaint and will be out of action for about 10 weeks as he rehabilitates,” reads the club’s official statement.

“We wish Anthony a speedy recovery and look forward to his return.”

Man United fans react to Martial news

Martial is now expected to be missing for United until April and it remains uncertain if the former Monaco star will make another appearance for the club.

United fans on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, believe it is unlikely that they will see Martial play at Old Trafford again before his contract expires.

“Another 10 weeks out for Martial. He’s done at United,” one fan said.

Someone else commented: “10 weeks?! Martial, surely, you’ve got to realise your dance is done, brother.”

“Anthony Martial’s career at Manchester United is over,” a third added.

Another posted: “I’ve watched the last time Martial ever pulled on a United shirt.”

A fifth simply stated: “We may never see Martial again in a United shirt.”

While a sixth tweeted: “Those black gloves are retired. It’s not a good feeling when a player you know has so much talent struggles to make it work. I hope Martial can make it back but it might really be over.”
