It may be an awkward return for Marcus Rashford at Carrington after his bombshell interview on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old opened up on his Manchester United future in an interview with Henry Winter and confirmed that he is “ready for a new challenge”.

His comments were released just days after Ruben Amorim snubbed Rashford from the matchday squad against Manchester City. A move away from United now feels inevitable for Marcus Rashford.

United are open to selling Rashford for £40m, while transfer expert Graeme Bailey explains that United will consider loan offers for Rashford in January as a stepping stone towards a permanent deal.

Amorim insists that Rashford could still stay at United despite his comments, and the Portuguese head coach now has to decide whether he starts against Tottenham on Thursday.

Marcus Rashford sent home from Man United training

It has been a turbulent week for Rashford, who has hogged the headlines after being left out of Sunday’s derby victory.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Rashford was then sent home from training at Carrington less than 24 hours after the derby.

It is explained that Rashford attended Carrington but was sent home after being assessed by a doctor as he had a high temperature.

It seems Rashford has recovered from his illness as he was spotted at his former primary school handing out presents just hours before his revealing interview was released.

As reported by journalist Chris Wheeler, Rashford is due back in training on Wednesday which will be Ruben Amorim’s first opportunity to talk to him about his comments.

Will Marcus Rashford feature for Man United vs Tottenham?

Having missed training on Monday, Rashford only has a short window to impress Amorim and make the matchday squad against Tottenham.

A Carabao Cup semi-final spot is up for grabs when United face Spurs on Thursday evening and Rashford could well be involved, as could Alejandro Garnacho after the duo missed Sunday’s derby.

Amorim explained what both players will have to do to work their way into his plans.

“If they train well, we have to make a choice,” Amorim said in his pre-match press conference. “I expect the best of each player every day”.
