Reaction to the big deal of the summer
Marcus Rashford spoke for all of us with his reaction to the deal. He seemed absolutely stunned and blown away.
United agreed and announced this deal incredibly quickly. Rashford’s message was totally understandable.
One player who seemed to have the inside track was Bruno Fernandes, who hinted he had been in conversation with Ronaldo.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said at his press conference that Fernandes had indeed been in touch with Ronaldo.
A new era
Re-signing Cristiano Ronaldo is a momentous occasion. Everybody associated with the football club is over the moon.
There simply was no chance United were going to stand by and let Ronaldo join City.
It is a bold move which puts City in their place as Manchester’s minnows, no matter how much success they may have.
The remarkable part is, BBC Sport report United will pay just £12.8 million to sign Ronaldo.
It is an outrageously low fee for an outrageously good footballer. Wow, indeed.
