Manchester United are building the best young squad in all of football, here’s an XI of all the club’s biggest wonderkids.
While the club are looking to bolster the squad with some signings to make an impact, the nature of Manchester United is to use Carrington.
We’ve seen this through the usage of both Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo last season and there looks likely to be at least one academy wonderkid who makes the step up this coming season.
The number of quality talents at the club is almost too many to count, so here is a quick guide to the best under-21 talents at the club right now, following Chido Obi-Martin’s arrival.
Manchester United have an excellent group of youngsters
In order to name a line-up of the best young talents at United, we’ve decided to go with players under 21, while leaving out the likes of Rasmus Hojlund who is turning 22 in the next half a year.
Elyh Harrison – 18 years old
In goal, Elyh Harrison is perceived as a very exciting talent, having most recently impressed against Chester in a friendly last week. He isn’t a player imminently going to get a debut, but in the long term, he could be the club’s next goalkeeper.
Habeeb Ogunneye – 18 years old
Next up is right back Habeeb Ogunneye, who has already featured in preseason for Erik ten Hag’s side. He wasn’t brought to the US to the surprise of many, but has potential. Perhaps he is set for a loan this summer.
Leny Yoro – 18 years old
One of the best at the club already, Leny Yoro has the potential to be the world’s best centre-back. Despite his early injury, he’s already shown impressive signs and we cannot wait to see him back in contention.
Godwill Kukonki – 16 years old
Alongside Yoro is a tough choice, but we’ve reached down to the U18s and Godwill Kukonki who participated in the Super Cup NI last week. Already featured at U18 level, Kukonki is massive for his age and technically proficient. A potential top-class defender who is signed to a scholarship.
Harry Amass – 17 years old
At just 17, Harry Amass already looks like he’s ready for a breakout season with United after an impressive start against Arsenal. Top, top talent and he looks likely to join the list of academy players to become first-team regulars.
Kobbie Mainoo – 19 years old
Possibly the best player at United in general, let alone for a youngster, Mainoo is an example for every academy player to follow.
Toby Collyer – 20 years old
Alongside Mainoo, Toby Collyer has already shown himself to be worthy of this list through pre-season and like Amass, he is in line for a big role this coming season.
Bendito Mantato – 16 years old
Next up, Bendito Mantato gets our right-wing spot as he is seen as having the potential to be a world-beater in the future.
Shea Lacey – 17 years old
Despite all his injury woes, Shea Lacey remains an incredible talent and one of the best in the academy right now.
Alejandro Garnacho – 19 years old
Garnacho is the most established player on this list, entering his third season as a United senior player. An immense talent who we think could be in line for a real statement-making season.
Chido Obi-Martin – 16 years old
The newest addition to the list is a certified lethal finisher in front of the goal. Obi is excellent and is set to be the latest addition to the academy, having been promised the third striker position at the club.
