A terrible start to the season for Manchester United has seen the club’s ranking plummet in the Global Opta Power Rankings.
United have lost more games than they have won this season, with Erik ten Hag‘s side hit by a combination of injuries and poor form.
It has led to United sitting just 10th in the Premier League table, and bottom of the Champions League group.
These performances have left United fans stunned and disappointed, hoping for a revival after the international break.
Manchester United low rank
The Global Opta Power Rankings are a tool used to measure and compare performance across the world’s top leagues.
The Analyst, while compiles the rankings, states: “Opta’s Power Rankings is a global team ranking system that assigns an ability score to nearly 13,500 domestic football teams on a scale between zero and 100, where zero is the worst-ranked team in the world and 100 is the best team in the world.”
Back in April, Manchester United were ranked in 8th place. At the start of September, the Red Devils had slipped to 10th place.
Now, Manchester United have plummeted down into a lowly 22nd place in the rankings.
For some further context, this is below Brighton and Aston Villa. Manchester City occupy top spot.
Struggling start
Manchester United are at a low point right now, and the goal has to be for this to be rock bottom. We don’t want to see it get worse.
Matches against Sheffield United and Copenhagen await after the international break, before the Manchester derby against City at the end of the month.
Three consecutive victories would go a long way to turning around the doom and gloom at Old Trafford.
