Manchester United have been named ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in Opta’s World Football Power Rankings.
It is safe to say Erik ten Hag has made a big impact at Manchester United. The Dutchman has turned the club into challengers again.
Even with the odd shaky away result here and there, Ten Hag has helped United gain a sense of pride, direction, and stability.
The Red Devils have won the last four Premier League games in a row, and are unbeaten at Old Trafford in all competitions since August.

In addition to collating statistics and figures, Opta produce their own Power Ranking system for clubs around the world.
The Analyst states: “Opta’s Power Rankings is a global team ranking system that assigns an ability score to nearly 13,500 domestic football teams on a scale between zero and 100, where zero is the worst-ranked team in the world and 100 is the best team in the world.”
The latest rankings were updated this week and Manchester United have risen to reach 8th in the world. Here is a look at the top 10.

- Real Madrid: 95.2
- Arsenal: 94.4
- Barcelona: 94.0
- Liverpool: 93.9

Manchester United are rapidly gaining on rivals Liverpool, closing the gap which has been shortening ever since this season began.
Ten Hag’s side have already won one trophy this season and are still in the running for two more, while aiming to lock down a Champions League place.
Upcoming Europa League opponents Sevilla are ranked 49th in the Power Rankings, while FA Cup semi-final opponents Roberto De Zerbi’s in-form Brighton are rated at a lofty 18th.
Rivals City sit at the top, but Manchester United have already beaten them once this season, and may yet get the opportunity to do so again if both teams reach the FA Cup final.
