Manchester United have not had a very successful start to the 2023/24 Premier League season.

With two wins and two defeats, Manchester United can consider the start to this season to be ‘ok’ at best.

When you watch the manner of those wins over Wolves and Nottingham Forest, there is even more reason to be concerned, especially with injuries hitting the squad already.

In terms of results, United are treading water. Erik ten Hag‘s side have a lot of improving to do.

Global Opta Power Rankings

A unique global rankings system powered by Opta data is compiled and updated weekly by The Analyst, comparing club performance around the globe.

The disappointing start to the season has seen Manchester United fall two places, from eight to 10th overall.

United have been overtaken, via the data, by Barcelona and RB Leipzig. Sadly, it is City who rank top of the pile, with Liverpool and Arsenal both ahead of Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils.

Many would probably consider that 10th place overall might even be fairly generous towards United.

Where Manchester United Champions League opponents rank

Manchester United face Bayern Munich, Galatasaray and FC Copenhagen in the Champions League group stages.

Bayern Munich are ranked third in the global Opta Power Rankings, highlighting what a difficult game it will be when United travel to Germany to kick off the group stages later this month.

Galatasaray are ranked down in 40th place, while FC Copenhagen are ranked 75th.
