Manchester United loanee Ethan Laird will have to wait longer to make his Bournemouth debut after suffering a setback in his recovery.
Cherries boss Scott Parker revealed that the right-back’s absence will be extended as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.
The 20-year-old joined the Cherries on loan for the remainder of the season in the first week of January.

However, the United academy graduate hasn’t made his first appearance for the Championship promotion chasers and he hasn’t played since coming off injured when playing for Swansea on December 11.
It was hoped that Laird could have been fit enough to make his debut against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup fourth-round tomorrow, or against Birmingham on Wednesday.
Speaking last week about a potential date for Laird’s debut, Parker said: “Ethan Laird is moving in the right direction.
“The weekend is too quick for him. I’m hoping we might see him in the FA Cup or he’ll be available for Birmingham (on February 9).”

But after confirming the youngster would not be ready to face the National League side in the cup, Parker told the Daily Echo: “He’s had a little bit of a setback.
“Hopefully not too long.
“Look, it’s not been ideal, let’s get that right. It’s not been ideal.
“He’s come in and obviously had a bit of an issue with his hamstring.
“Hopefully we’re not too far off, but we’re just treading carefully around that a little bit.”
Although Parker hasn’t provided a specific timeframe on when Laird is expected to return, the Cherries’ number three has shared an Instagram story which highlights his desire to get back playing football as soon as possible.

Laird’s extended absence will frustrate both him and Parker after he had an impressive first half of the season at Swansea.
