Manchester United ‘hope to announce Erik ten Hag agreement next week’

Manchester United are hoping to announce an agreement for Erik ten Hag to manage the club next week, report The Telegraph.

United have settled on Ten Hag as the next boss, with the finer details of his contract being discussed.

Negotiations are said to be moving ‘very quickly’ and an agreement is likely to soon be concluded.

The Telegraph report an announcement could be made late next week, although given the speed the negotiations are going, this could be brought forward.

Ten Hag has been the top option for many United supporters through this process. . A poll conducted by Gary Neville showed 82 per cent of respondents preferred Ten Hag to Mauricio Pochettino

The Telegraph report United are still scheduled to speak to Pochettino, although it is likely to be to let him know he will not get the job.

Ten Hag’s release clause is substantially cheaper than Pochettino’s. ESPN reported on Wednesday evening that United have agreed internally to hire the Dutchman.

Ten Hag’s arrival at United would herald the start of a new era, but he won’t be ready to link up with the club yet.

He still has a cup final and league campaign to conclude with Ajax, but what this decision and announcement would do, is provide some clarity for all parties concerned.

Ajax may prefer as little disruption as possible, and they have to weigh up whether actually clarifying the situation is better than continued whispers and pretending Ten Hag is staying when he isn’t.
