Manchester United have high hopes for Mason Greenwood this season. And the young forward has been back at pre-season for the past two weeks.

Greenwood is getting a headstart on his attacking teammates after getting the summer off. This was exactly what he needed.

Currently Greenwood is United’s only available striker, with Anthony Martial still absent and Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford away after international duty.

This is allowing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to place extra attention on Greenwood and a short video clip of the pair was heartwarming to see.

United posted a short video clip of Solskjaer walking at Carrington with his arm around Greenwood imparting a few helpful words of advice.

It is moments like this which help characterise Solskjaer as such a great man manager.

Luke Shaw is among the players on record praising his personable style of coaching, and the way he always defends United’s stars in the media, including Greenwood last season, endears him to the squad.

After an eventful and challenging 2020/21 season, Greenwood will benefit from close attention from Solskjaer.

He ended the season with 12 goals and five assists in all competitions, an impressive return considering his slow start.

Greenwood already has 29 total goals for United in just two seasons and 2021/22 might end up being his best yet. The arrival of Jadon Sancho can help him as he could get more opportunities in a central position.

United supporters were enthused to see the footage of Solskjaer and Greenwood, with plenty of positive responses mixed in with the ‘announce Sancho’ tweets.
