Manchester United wonderkid Amad scored a late winner to ensure the club’s under-23 side beat rivals Leeds United 3-2.

Making his second straight start for Neil Wood’s side, the Ivorian scored twice, including a stunning solo winning goal to ensure United left Leigh Sports Village with all three points.

After forming part of the first team squad that travelled to his former side Atalanta in the midweek Champions League draw, Amad was back out on the pitch tormenting defences.

The Ivory Coast international also made the assist for Charlie McNeil’s goal, as he skipped past the challenge of a Leeds player before playing a perfectly weighted pass into the former Manchester City youngster, who then dinked the ball past the keeper with a beautiful finish.

Amad also opened the scoring between the sides after just six minutes, slotting home his one-on-one clinically after being played in by Martin Svidersky. The win for United takes us up to sixth in the Premier League 2 table, six points off the leaders Arsenal.

On a day where Manchester United’s first team struggled to unlock Manchester City’s defence, Amad gave a timely reminder of the phenomenal talent he possesses.

A January loan move will likely be sanctioned regardless of his participation in the African Cup of Nations, due to the 19-year-old needing regular first team senior football to continue his development.
