Manchester United eye Ibrahim Sangare, and PSV already have replacements lined up
Manchester United’s need for a defensive midfielder is so glaring, and blindingly obvious that it would be negligent for the club not to address it, for a second year in a row.
The problem is, there have been a real lack of links to potential players in the position, except for The Mirror suggesting interest in veteran Ngolo Kante.
Last week we suggested that with a dream move for Aurelien Tchouameni off the table, a potential switch for PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare could be the club’s best bet.
Now, the link we have been waiting for, is here. The Mail report United are eyeing a move for the Ivory Coast international.

Manchester United eye Ibrahim Sangare
Sangare ticks all the right boxes for Manchester United. The 24-year-old has played in France and the Netherlands and is ready for a new challenge.
Opta named Sangare in their Eredivisie team of the season, labelling him the ‘best defensive midfielder’ in the league.
Sangare ranked 1st in the league for tackles won, 1st for duels won, 2nd for ball recoveries, and 3rd for interceptions.
He is now reportedly eyeing a move to the Premier League as the next step in his career.
Sangare told De Telegraaf last month: ‘Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine but a dream of every footballer. That is the biggest and most important league in the world.”
He has the physicality and the skillset to make a difference to Manchester United, perhaps even alongside Frenkie de Jong.
The Mail report he has a release clause of £29.9million in his contract, a perfectly affordable sum for a player Erik ten Hag will know well from his time in the Netherlands.
PSV preparing for his departure
A report from Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur last night claimed PSV boss Ruud van Nistelrooy is already making preparations for Sangare’s departure.
They reportedly have ‘express interest’ in FC Utrecht’s Quinten Timber, brother of United target Jurrien Timber, and KV Mechelen’s Vinicius Souza.
A potential move for Sangare is there for the taking, if Manchester United want it enough. This is a player who was pictured wearing a Manchester United shirt at a charity tournament last summer.
Reports of United’s interest are encouraging, a step forward. Now the club need to turn this into action.
