Manchester United already have the perfect partner for Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham opened the scoring for England in the Three Lions’ opening World Cup game against Iran, a 6-2 victory.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder netted a header from a Luke Shaw assist, days after the Manchester United left-back had dubbed him ‘unbelievable’.

Bellingham is a player linked with a move to Manchester since 2020, when the club had him visit the training ground, but were unable to clinch the deal.

A recent report in The Mirror claimed Bellingham is United’s top transfer target for summer 2023, amid an expected bidding war for his signature.

Clinching Champions League qualification will be crucial to United’s chances. There is another big factor at play which could help the Red Devils out.

Perfect partner for Jude Bellingham

Bellingham is reported to be studying his options to ensure he makes the best possible decision for his future.

Transfer insider Ben Jacobs reports Bellingham is adopting a similar approach to Erling Haaland to assess his best choice, and while worryingly this could lead him to City, there are arguments in his favour for Manchester United too.

Rio Ferdinand was asked about Bellingham’s prospects of joining United and gave his view that he would only do so if he wanted to be the catalyst to take the club back to the top.

Another strong argument is that United already have a perfect midfield partner for Bellingham to play alongside, Casemiro.

Bellingham is an outstanding box to box midfielder, at the age of 19 he is already excelling on the world stage and producing consistently in the Champions League.

His next club will need to give him the freedom to shine in the same way, to give him license to get forward. This means having a top defensive midfielder to play alongside him.

Casemiro is one of the best defensive midfielder in the world, some would argue ‘the best’. He has proven his quality for Real Madrid and Brazil and continued to do so for Manchester United.

He would give Bellingham the creative room to get up and down the pitch, with the confidence he is being covered by a marauding defensive midfielder protecting the defence.

As a pairing, Casemiro and Bellingham have got it all. Then add in a top creator like Bruno Fernandes or push Christian Eriksen forward, and this becomes a midfield trio who can do everything.

Bellingham is a player who drive the future success of whichever club he signs for. Competition for his signature will be intense, and United only admittedly have half a chance.

The prospect of playing alongside Casemiro has to be an attractive option for him, however. It is a partnership which could hasten his development as a top star, and ease him into Premier League football without complication.

Turning United down twice won’t be easy for Bellingham. Snubbing the chance to play alongside a five-time Champions League winner will be even tougher.
