Manchester United’s academy has a handful of talents who look like they are destined for the top of the game. Now, Ruben Amorim has been using one of the best in training.

Despite not making proper use of the academy at Manchester United, there is certainly keen attention being paid toward the youth, likely with plans to integrate talents when the first team is in a better place.

For Ruben Amorim, there are plenty of options to look at using, with United having arguably the biggest group of talents in the country right now at academy level.

For example, Amorim is very impressed by Jim Thwaites for the midfielder’s excellent performances this season so far.

Meanwhile, Amir Ibragimov, Fletcher twins, Shea Lacey and Gabriele Biancheri are all also knocking on the door, waiting for their opportunity to play for the first team.

Longer term, United have a superstar in the making named JJ Gabriel, with all focus on retaining the world class wonderkid deep into his career. But there is another player with top class potential who United are very excited by.

Jayden Ngwashi in Manchester United training

While Gabriel is the headline of the academy right now, in defence, Jayden Ngwashi is a big talent emerging through the ranks.

United locked Ngwashi down to a new contract, fending off interest across Europe, including in Italy, for which the 16-year-old holds a passport.

Well, despite his youth, Ngwashi has earned himself a place in Amorim’s plans this season, as he was pictured taking part in the final first team training session before the team travelled to London.

Nathan Salt confirmed that Ngwashi was involved, as was Tyler Fletcher, but for the former it was a first opportunity to prove himself at this level, against first team players.

United staff have been impressed with Ngwashi, and with multiple big European sides looking to sign him, giving him fast-track opportunities is likely with the intention to prove to him that he should remain long term.

Ngwashi hasn’t been included in the match day squad for the game, however, his involvement in training remains a positive for him and United.

Ruben Amorim should be very excited by Jayden Ngwashi

For Manchester United right now, there are a handful of exciting youth defenders, and Amorim has taken a look at most of them.

Godwill Kukonki caught Amorim’s eye on day one of his reign, however, his physical impressiveness doesn’t quite match his ability right now.

Reece Munro was involved during pre-season after impressing on the post season tour in Hong Kong, but failed to make his mark.

Well in terms of potential and current levels of ball playing and understanding of the game, Ngwashi likely beats both and this will be massively exciting to Amorim.

The 16-year-old is the perfect modern day central defender, being elite on the ball and without it he is a stern defender who can be relied on.

Ngwashi jumping the ranks to be involved shows how highly rated he is, and hopefully if United are able to get some regular form going, he will be among the youngsters looked at to step up by Amorim.
