Diogo Dalot admitted that he is not surprised by the fact that one of his Manchester United teammates previously played for one of the “biggest clubs in the world.”

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has overseen an up-and-down start to the 2024-25 Premier League season, with the Red Devils 12th in the league table.

Erik ten Hag’s men returned to winning ways on the weekend after producing a sensational 2-1 comeback win against Brentford at Old Trafford.

Saturday’s Premier League result is United’s third league win of the season, with the Red Devils losing three and picking up two draws so far.

Ten Hag, who inked a contract extension in the summer, will now be hopeful his side can capitalise on their momentum for Thursday’s Europa League clash.

United will be reunited with former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho for the Europa League encounter with Fenerbahce in Turkey.

Dalot talks up Man Utd signing

Diogo Dalot has praised Manchester United teammate Noussair Mazraoui for his start to life at Old Trafford after his summer move from Bayern Munich.

United agreed a deal worth nearly £60m to sign both Netherlands defender Matthijs de Ligt and Morocco full-back Noussair Mazraoui from the Bundesliga club.

Matthijs de Ligt and Mazraoui had both played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax and both players have impressed at times since their move from Bayern Munich.

Mazraoui has slotted in at right-back under Ten Hag, while Dalot has been used at left-back amid the absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia from the squad.

The 26-year-old former Bayern and Ajax star has made 11 appearances across all competitions for United, with Mazraoui making seven Premier League starts so far.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Mazraoui said: “Really good. He’s [shown] that he’s a really good player.

“It’s no coincidence that he played in one of the biggest clubs in the world, so for him to be here I think it’s a privilege for us, as players.

“That’s why the club bought him; that’s why the club wanted him here. We just have to take advantage of his qualities.

“When he’s on the pitch, I think he’s a really good player that can bring us a lot of different things.

“As long as he still continues helping the team, I think he will be really good for us.”

Dalot at Man Utd and Old Trafford

Dalot has opened up about his time at Old Trafford and accepted his position of becoming a more senior player among the first-team squad at the club.

“It’s something that’s becoming part of me now,” he said.

“I think it came in a natural way. I don’t force it; I just feel that being here for this long brings me experience at the club.

“Playing a lot helps me to be in that position as well. I think it’s something that came naturally, and I think it’s helpful for me and for the club. So, it’s something that I enjoy.”
