Manchester United faced Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon in a 2-1 win.

Brentford scored in the first-half with Mathias Jensen scoring after a mistake from Casemiro.

Onana should’ve saved the shot, but didn’t which is how the game stayed as Manchester United looked set to lose a third consecutive game, only a late equaliser denied it.

Scott McTominay drew the sides level in the 93rd before scoring the winner in the 97th.

Absolute scenes for United, a massive three points coming inspire of a really bad performance.

Saved by McTominay, but still not good enough

Manchester United were poor all game, but miraculously were propelled from the verge of defeat to a win by Scott McTominay.

93rd minute equaliser was quickly followed by a winner in the 97th minute by McTominay

However despite turning a loss into a win, the original points all stand with a horrific performance.

Casemiro continues to struggle

One of this season’s most worrying declines has been Casemiro who has been a shell of the player signed last summer.

Winning the player of the month award earlier this week was shocking after how bad he’s been. But against Brentford he looked the worst he has all season.

Slow, lazy and exposed, Casemiro was hooked at half-time, a move unprecedented by Erik ten Hag. To make it worse for the Brazilian, Amrabat looked far better than him in the lone defensive midfield position.

Andre Onana poor again

A common theme in recent weeks has been Andre Onana‘s struggles in the Manchester United goal.

Once again he was bad as United conceded against Brentford in the first-half.

Victor Lindelof and Casemiro were poor allowing Brentford to get into that position, but Onana needs to be saving that shot but instead it seemed to go through his hand. Poor.

Defence needs rebuilding

When the teams were announced, Manchester United’s defence was the immediate area of concern.

While injuries have played a huge part in this being our line-up, far too often we have experienced injury crisis’ in the defence.

A huge rebuild is needed as clearly we can’t rely on Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez anymore with both incredibly injury prone.

We need to move away from the likes of Lindelof and Jonny Evans starting games.

Zero creativity still a problem

Manchester United have so many dangerous attacking players, which makes the toothless performances over the last two weeks inexplicable.

Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount have somehow all been atrocious at the same time.

Creating nothing against a team who are one of the worst teams form-wise in the league is worrying. We could’ve played all week and not scored.

Fresh start needed

With a two week break for Manchester United now, Erik ten Hag needs to go back to the drawing board.

After the break several players need to be dropped and there needs to be a clear improvement or this season could very quickly become un-salvageable for Ten Hag.

Despite the win, the performance was too poor to ignore, however the three points were absolutely vital.
