Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been told that “nobody can” afford him in one of Europe’s top five leagues, despite being the ‘perfect’ fit for two clubs.

Marcus Rashford’s future at Old Trafford appears all but over after falling down the pecking order under Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim.

The 27-year-old England star last played for United back in December in United’s 2-1 Europa League comeback win against Viktoria Plzen at the Doosan Arena.

Ruben Amorim then made the big call to drop Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho for the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

The United manager ruled out disciplinary issues behind his decision, but Amorim hinted that he wanted to see more from the Three Lions international.

Rashford broke his silence after Amorim’s decision to drop him and the United forward admitted that his future could take him away from Old Trafford.

Rashford praised as ‘fantastic player’

Marcus Rashford was named as an unused substitute in Manchester United’s 2-0 Premier League defeat to Newcastle at Old Trafford in late December.

However, the Three Lions star hasn’t played for the Red Devils since the Viktoria Plzen match, despite Ruben Amorim suggesting that he could still fight for his place.

Rashford is under contract with United until 2028 and the Red Devils are keen on securing a hefty transfer fee before they sanction a sale for the player.

Speaking to Viva el Futbol, former Roma star Antonio Cassano insisted that he would do everything in his power to sign the “fantastic” Rashford from United.

“We are talking about a fantastic player; I go crazy for him,” he said, as per TuttoMercatoWeb.

“One and a half years ago, not three or five, he had finished the season with 28 goals playing as an attacking winger.”

Cassano talks two clubs for Rashford

Rashford’s form fell off a cliff last season under former United manager Erik ten Hag and the United star only scored eight times in 43 matches across all competitions.

The United player’s poor run of form in the 2023-24 campaign led to him losing his place in the England squad for Euro 2024 in Germany last summer.

Rashford, who was criticised for his behaviour off the pitch last season, has struggled to rediscover his best form in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

The England international has only managed to score seven times in 24 appearances, but Rashford has still attracted interest amid his poor form.

Antonio Cassano believes that Rashford would be a “fantastic” fit for AC Milan or Juventus, but his mammoth wages mean he could be priced out of a Serie A move.

“But something has broken at Manchester United, first with Ten Hag and especially with Amorim,” he added.

“The problem is that he earns €12m per season. Who can afford him in Italy? Nobody can.

“He would be fantastic for Milan and Juventus, but I don’t think he can join our league.”
