Man Utd players clearly did not listen to Ten Hag criticism, it’s a major problem – with one player an exception

Erik ten Hag finished his first Champions League game with United in bitter defeat but will be more worried about a recurring issue cropping up in multiple games now.

Despite the result not looking too bad for an away trip to Munich – it was the overall performance that left fans feeling depleted following the full-time whistle.

There were a sea of bad performances, including some of our most experienced players in Casemiro and Marcus Rashford. Troubling signs with a long season ahead.

What’s most worrying, is that evidently some of the issues last night have already been identified – but are seemingly falling on deaf ears.

United players are clearly not listening to Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag has already brought up this season that United players are struggling to run and trackback.

This is never really the case in the opening stages, but they always seem to lose focus – which is exactly what occurred against the German champions last night.

Speaking after the defeat to Spurs in the second game of the season, Ten Hag stated the following:

“For the first 35 minutes [against Tottenham] we were so good in the game,” Ten Hag said.

“They [Spurs] were nowhere, nothing, and then things happened in the game, then they got distracted, not doing their jobs anymore.

“They didn’t run. Or they run in the wrong moment, too late. Especially the front [players] didn’t recover.

“That is a demand from a Manchester United player and team. I am not used to it from this team because they always do.”

Remind you of anything? This is exactly what occurred against Bayern last night. Players are not working hard enough, or at least are losing focus at pivotal moments.

There were a few major culprits last night caused by not doing the dirty work. Casemiro and Marcus Rashford didn’t paint themselves in the best light. Scott McTominay had one moment in particular which sent fans into rage.

But one player can hold his head high – as he’s been doing it all season.

Bruno Fernandes is an exception

The Premier League released statistics after four games as to who covered the most distance in matches and Bruno Fernandes came second in the entirety of the division.

He’s working so much harder than any other Manchester United player – this needs to change.

There was a moment last night where McTominay lost the ball and didn’t even track back, yet Bruno who had played 80 minutes busted a gut to stop the counter.

The captain is leading by example – yet others need to follow.
