Manchester United legend David de Gea was left ‘upset’ by two figures after his departure from Old Trafford in 2023, according to stunning reports.
David de Gea signed off the 2022-23 season with Manchester United by capturing the Premier League Golden Glove award.
The 33-year-old Spaniard was keen to extend his stay at Old Trafford and was reportedly ready to take a pay cut to continue his United career.
However, talks over a new United deal broke down and De Gea was allowed to leave Old Trafford last summer.
De Gea has remained a free agent since his exit from United in 2023, despite attracting interest from clubs around the world.

Man Utd legend De Gea ‘upset’ by two figures
Andre Onana was snapped up from Inter Milan last summer and succeeded David de Gea as Manchester United’s No 1 after the Spaniard’s Old Trafford exit.
United manager Erik ten Hag was reunited with Andre Onana in 2023, having previously worked with the Cameroon international at Ajax.
The Athletic now reports that De Gea was left ‘upset’ with his United exit and those who were responsible with his departure from Old Trafford.
It is believed that the former Spain international was not happy with the role that Erik ten Hag and John Murtough played in his club exit.
John Murtough was football director at Old Trafford before stepping down from the role in 2024, with Dan Ashworth succeeding him at United.
According to The Athletic, De Gea reportedly told his inner circle that he would be open to a United return so long as Murtough and Ten Hag are not there.
De Gea’s career at Man Utd
De Gea was a mainstay at United for over a decade and made a whopping 545 appearances during his 12-year stay at Old Trafford.
Legendary former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson signed the Spaniard from Atletico Madrid in 2011 as a replacement for club legend Edwin van der Sar.
During his spell at Old Trafford, De Gea lifted a Premier League title, a Europa League trophy, an FA Cup and a League Cup with United.
De Gea, who was a two-time Golden Glove winner, also won the club’s Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award on four occasions in his playing career.
The United legend has flirted with his club future amid his free agent status, including sharing training clips with fans on social media.
