It’s stated that ‘contacts have begun’ over a deal and De Gea is ‘excited’ by the prospect of a move.
Betis are looking to land another goalkeeper with Rui Silva out injured and potentially up for sale in 2024.
Former Manchester City man Claudio Bravo is now serving as first-choice for Betis but De Gea could come in to start ahead of the 40-year-old.
De Gea could join a number of former Premier League players
Betis are managed by ex-City boss Manuel Pellegrini and he has a number of former Premier League players in his squad.
Hector Bellerin and recent signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos both turned out for Arsenal in years gone by.
Former Newcastle United and Leicester City man Ayoze Perez is at Betis too, as is former Wolves striker Willian Jose.
Midfielder Marc Roca is currently on loan from Leeds United after their relegation to the Championship.
De Gea could now join that contingent and United fans would surely wish him well if he finalises this move to Spain.
