Marcus Rashford is in limbo right now, with his future at Manchester United considered over, yet no real interest from clubs in signing him.
The past six months have been a reality check for Marcus Rashford, with the winger likely assuming that much of Europe would have wanted to sign him, only to find out this wasn’t the case.
Manchester United have known this was a likely scenario this summer after January saw few clubs step up to sign Rashford. Ultimately, this meant Rashford spent the season at Aston Villa, although he had grander plans for himself.
Having missed out in January, Rashford has been desperate to move to Barcelona this summer by any means necessary, which has seen him focus solely on the Catalan giants.
One extreme has seen the suggestion that Rashford could play for United’s U21s unless a loan to Barcelona is sanctioned this summer. However, the Spanish side were instead focused on Nico Williams.

Marcus Rashford prepared to give 100 per cent at Manchester United
Barcelona were prioritising Williams this summer until Friday, saw Athletic Club announced the youngster had signed a new 10-year contract.
This may have pushed Rashford up the priority list, despite Luis Diaz likely taking pole position. However, now it has been claimed by the Daily Mail that despite wanting to move to Barcelona, Rashford is ready for his return to Carrington.
The report claims that Rashford is ready and expecting to be involved when United return for pre-season on July 7th. Continuing, it is reported that Rashford is ‘ready to give 100 per cent’ for United this summer as long as he remains at the club.
This is a big change in tune from the 27-year-old England international, who fell out with Ruben Amorim for his lack of effort in training.
United fans have been left surprised by this claim, taking to social media to send a clear message in response.
Manchester United fans send clear response to Marcus Rashford
Rashford declared his desire to leave United in December, and since then fans haven’t been overly receptive to his return. Now, the idea of the forward being in pre-season training with a promise of 100 per cent effort has also not gone down well.
One fan wrote: “He will give 100% in pre-season, then starts his inconsistency and not tracking back when the season starts. While chilling with 350k per week lol.”
While another pointed out a strong point to the author of the report, Chris Wheeler: “Chris, he hasn’t given 100% to United for 2.5 seasons.”
Another supporter raised the point that Rashford would no longer be a starter even if he stayed: “He’s a squad player now if he stays.”
This point was agreed with by another: “The Problem is he doesn’t get in the team”.
“Ready to give 100%? Too late, buddy, the die is cast”, an additional fan commented.
Finally, one fan summarised the situation perfectly: “I’d say fine if he genuinely meant it, doesn’t want to be at the club, and he has made that crystal clear, so 100% effort is irrelevant. Toxic attitude, and therefore you couldn’t even put him with the reserves!”
