Man Utd fans in total agreement on Alejandro Garnacho’s reaction after win vs Ipswich, ‘disgusted’ comparison made

Manchester United gave a starved Old Trafford finally something to celebrate about as they won 3-2 against Ipswich.

However, as is tradition with Manchester United, nothing about the win was remotely straightforward, with a comical gaffe, sending-off, and controversy galore surrounding the game.

Out of those three, the last one will undoubtedly dominate headlines until Ruben Amorim next faces the press, with Alejandro Garnacho’s subbing off causing tension.

UPDATE: Garnacho has posted another story congratulating the team since this story was published.

Garnacho went straight down the tunnel and Amorim said he’ll speak to the player now but it’s undoubtedly a distraction the team can do without.

Garnacho then fanned the flames with what he did after the game, a quintessential example of “A picture speaks a thousand words”.

Alejandro Garnacho after Man Utd’s win vs Ipswich

To be fair to Garnacho, he was one of the few bright sparks for United before coming off, and he arguably would have played the full game had Patrick Dorgu not seen red.

Having said that, Amorim’s reasoning for taking him off instead of, say, Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee made complete sense because United needed more retention and less thrust after being reduced to ten men.

Therefore, Garnacho’s reaction to getting subbed off was not the ideal way to go about things but what he did after the game made it worse.

Garnacho posted the picture below on his Instagram stories, with no mention of a win or gratitude towards the fans after such a confidence-inducing performance.

Needless to say, even the fans who sympathised with him at the time of his substitution had no time for his antics on social media when they were so counterproductive.

Man Utd fans on Alejandro Garnacho’s reaction

Man Utd fans can be forgiven for not having patience with players’ social media antics anymore after being burned repeatedly in recent times.

From Jadon Sancho effectively calling Erik ten Hag a liar to Cristiano Ronaldo going scorched earth on the club and the manager, fans have had enough, as seen on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I was really disgusted by this. Has Garnacho learned nothing from the behaviours of Sancho, Rashford, etc,” said one as another said, “He needs to grow up. I like the lad, and I do believe in him, but he needs a wake-up call.”

The Rashford comparisons kept coming up, “I am very okay if Garnacho is given same treatment as Rashford because he keeps repeating this same thing. What is really wrong with these players?”

“If Garnacho isn’t happy with the 3 points, then he should enjoy the Naples sunshine next season. No I in TEAM,” said a fourth.

A fifth had sympathy for Amorim instead, “It is so irritating. Gut out a hard-fought win just to now have to answer for this nonsense.”

“Players with bad attitudes have been part of our downfall, need a clear out in the summer, he needs to go too,” said one as one summed up the problem, saying, “He does this over and over again. It’s such a shame. Serious mentality issue.”

Needlessly, it’s already clear what Amorim’s next press conference will be dominated by.
