Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has been fired. Check out the reaction.

Just like that, Ruben Amorim has been sacked from his position as Manchester United head coach.

It is a brutally swift development following Amorim’s public outburst following the team’s draw against Leeds.

After his press conference the debate was flowing on United In Focus’ TalkingPoints platform.

“I think he’s fed up with the media in this country and is ready to start being shirty with them,” one comment read.

Another pointed to the clear disconnect between Amorim and the board.

“He is 100% correct calling out Man City deadwood in Berrada and Wilcox, they would not have been let go if they were any good. Buy the £100m midfielder now, or resign so sir Jim can employ proper lifelong fan Man Utd Directors.”

While one more comment defended Amorim: “HE IS in a position to qualify for Europe with a team that needs at least 10 players to challenge for premier title. HE IS not a miracle worker.”

Amorim has now been sacked, and the debate has taken a whole new direction…

Reaction to Amorim sacking

The reaction to Ruben Amorim’s sacking is already coming in. Here is a selection.

“The lack of joined-up thinking at board level is the biggest concern from all of this, no improvements in that regard under the new regime,” one comment read.

“Brilliant,” read one comment from a fan who was clearly happy with Amorim’s departure.

But not everybody was happy, with one comment simply stating: “Poor decision”.

Another shone the spotlight towards the ownership: “The best thing that could happen now for the fans is that Ineos and the Glazers follow him!”

One fan wrote: “We’re gonna get nowhere if we keep sacking managers 😒 how can we build if we don’t have a solid leader? Fair enough he’s made some dreadful decisions and yesterday’s comments have obviously not helped his case … But we’ve been a far better side this season …”

United In Focus writer Dale O’Donnell added: “Not surprised. Poor results since he arrived, and his comments on Sunday made his position untenable.”

Amorim exit was coming

Ruben Amorim’s sacking was on the cards after his outburst, and ahead of the firing, fans posted these comments.

One wrote: “Amorim has done poorly. We were “eaten” by the Wolves at home on Dec 31st. In a not too distant past we have been dumped by Grimsby. The standards must have considerably dropped if Amorim is deemed to be somehow a success. The Solution is simple: Bring on Unai Emery!!!”

A second added: “I like him, but he has to go. We are losing too many points, dire performances, baffling substitutions, if we’d have won all the easy games, we would be up there challenging. The board needs to act now, while we can still salvage the season.”

And a third posted: “Amorim has failed in many areas, last season was appalling, he blew the saving grace of European success. Tactically there have been glimmers of hope in playing high press attacking football. However, his substitutions have been bizarre and at times clueless. Time up I am afraid.”
