Manchester United have reportedly lined up Graham Potter as a replacement for Erik ten Hag if results do not improve.

As we await the arrival of Ineos’ sporting department at Manchester United – which reports suggest could include two impressive acquistionsErik ten Hag continues to struggle at the helm.

The Dutch boss has been unable to grab any sort of form this season with false horizons regularly disappointing fans.

The last game in particular – a loss against Nottingham Forest – was disappointing as it came after the massive win over Aston Villa.

Sir Dave Brailsford was watching that game in the stands and didn’t look too impressed with what he saw. Sir Jim Ratcliffe was also at Carrington this week and amid his visit, reports have been swirling regarding his choice of who might replace Ten Hag.

Manchester United fans fume over Graham Potter rumours

After the reports, United fans took to X with their verdict over the rumours.

One fan laid it out simply, saying: “Replacing Erik Ten Hag with Graham Potter will be disastrous”.

Another fan held a similar view and even teased those who may want Ten Hag gone: “Imagine sacking Ten Hag for Potter. Those of you that want Ten Hag out, might soon want him to stay.”

A third fan went on a rant claiming the current boss is a better manager: “Graham Potter is NOT the answer to Manchester United. Not better than Ten Hag so not an upgrade. His Time at Chelsea raises some huge amount of red flags. Erik ten Hag is much better than him”.

A fourth predicted the future in which the players once again turn on the manager: “Graham Potter wouldn’t last a month at Utd before players were throwing him under the bus, absolutely no chance.”

Fans were divided though as some saw Potter as a solid choice by Ineos.

On the other hand some United fans like the idea of Potter

Fans are divided however as some are keen to see a new boss at the club and believe Potter is better than he showed last season: “Just because Graham Potter struggled at Chelsea doesn’t mean he will fail at Manchester United”

This view was shared by another: “Graham Potter is actually a good coach, his work at Brighton [makes that] evident.”

A third gave stipulations for the scenario in which Potter makes sense: “I can see an argument for him IF we sort everything else out, but that same argument can be said for Ten Hag”.

Lastly, one fan pointed out an interesting fact which goes in Potter’s favour: “We’ve never won the league with a non-British manager.”
