Manchester United needed a nervy win against Leicester to progress in the FA Cup but fans would much rather have a controversial win than a loss (duh!).
That’s the position Chelsea find themselves in, getting dumped out of the FA Cup after a 2-1 loss to Brighton, something which Man Utd are entirely too familiar with in recent years.
However, this game was sweet for Man Utd fans who witnessed Jadon Sancho huff and puff against Brighton to no avail.
Sancho is still on loan from Man Utd, with the deal being made permanent in the summer but after watching his latest performance, fans’ ‘scammed’ point is clear.

Jadon Sancho for Chelsea vs Brighton
Sancho was a complete passenger in the game and although he created three chances, it seemed like he was carried by the rest of his team.
The effort and desire that United fans had gotten all too used to complaining about with him was on clear display against Brighton.
He lost all seven of his duels in the game, had just two recoveries of the ball, and finished the game with zero tackles, zero dribbles, zero interceptions, and zero crosses in a performance of just fleeting moments.
He was hooked off after 74 minutes as Minteh and Veltman ran rings around him and Cucurella on the left flank but it wasn’t enough for Chelsea to win and progress.
United fans, safe in the knowledge that the club is getting about £25 million in the summer regardless of how Sancho performs, gloated after the game.
Man Utd fans on Jadon Sancho vs Brighton
Sancho had made a hot start to life at Chelsea and that had led Chelsea fans to revel in United misery, saying that the £25 million fee for minuscule for such a talent or in other ways, they had “scammed” Man Utd.
United fans kept the receipts and hit back with the same tongue-in-cheek response as Sancho has gone off the boil massively.
“Scammed Chelsea,” wrote one on X, formerly known as Twitter, while another said, “We are used to this. It’s time for Chelsea fans to find out.”.
“‘We scammed Man Utd’, guess who got scammed now,” said a third, while a fourth cashed the receipts, “They said he’s upgraded from Manchester United!”.
Another said: “They thought they signed Man Utd’s best winger, it’s a scam!”, while a sixth said, “Could have told you that. He’s a decent player but that’s just what he is, never a world-beater.”
Finally, a fan put into perspective how the deal is ageing well for Man Utd: “The good news for Manchester United is an obligation to buy clause of Chelsea finishes above 14th which is almost guaranteed.”
Good news indeed!
