Dan Ashworth is a British sports administrator who has held various influential positions within English football. He is widely recognized for his roles in talent development and administration at some of the Premier League‘s biggest football clubs.
He served as the Technical Director of the English Football Association (FA) from 2012 until leaving the organization in 2018. During his tenure, he was responsible for overseeing player development and coaching strategies for England’s national teams.
Ashworth played a crucial role in the establishment of St. George’s Park, the national football training centre in England, which serves as a hub for coach education and player development. He has been involved in various initiatives aimed at improving English football’s talent pipeline and was regarded as one of the key figures in shaping the future direction of the sport in England.
Beyond his work with the FA, Ashworth has also been involved in club football, having affiliations with West Brom, Brighton and, most recently, Newcastle.

Ashworth was officially confirmed as Newcastle’s director of football in February 2022 but served a period of leave before joining them in the summer.
