Man United injuries continue as loan star with fractured foot returns to Carrington

Ruben Amorim’s bench against Tottenham showed the extent of the injury crisis at Manchester United.

Seven academy stars were named as substitutes for Manchester United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

They were joined by Victor Lindelof and January signing Ayden Heaven as the only options available to Ruben Amorim.

The United boss left it late before making his only change with Chido Obi making his senior debut as a replacement for Casemiro. Sadly, it was too late for the 17-year-old to make an impact.

Amorim likely would have made more changes if he had first-team players available, but in the span of a week he lost five key players.

Amad Diallo’s season is over following an ankle injury, while Kobbie Mainoo is expected to be out for six weeks. Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer also suffered setbacks while Leny Yoro and Christian Eriksen were ruled out with illness.

Dan Gore returns to Man United for treatment

It seems the injury curse has also spread to those on the brink of United’s first team, with loan star Dan Gore suffering a hairline foot fracture.

Gore joined Rotherham on loan until the end of the season in an attempt to play regular first-team football.

He started brightly with Gore impressing on his Rotherham debut, but his progress quickly came to a halt because of injury.

Rotherham boss Steve Evans was baffled by Gore’s injury but it was later confirmed that Gore suffered a major setback.

Now, the Manchester Evening News report that Gore has returned to Manchester to receive treatment on his foot injury.

Will Dan Gore return to Rotherham once fit?

While Gore has returned to Manchester for rehabilitation, his stay is not expected to be permanent.

Gore is expected to be out of action for around a month, but once he is deemed fit to train he is expected to return to League One side Rotherham.

When discussing Gore’s return, Evans said: “We’ve done that with other loan players in the past. Their progress is quicker because they have more medical back-up on hand. He’s in a good place there.”

Gore has proven he is too good for youth football so he will be eager to return to Rotherham and impress.

United’s midfield is set to be shaken up over the summer with Christian Eriksen likely to leave and Casemiro facing an uncertain future. It could open the door for Gore to join the first team if he is able to make an impression out on loan.
