Man United have already been warned about Matheus Cunha after manager’s ‘body language’ comments

Manchester United target Matheus Cunha has not always been a perfect role model during his time at Wolves.

Fresh reports claim Manchester United have held positive talks for Matheus Cunha as Ineos target a new No.10 for Ruben Amorim this summer.

Wolves will accept instalments for Cunha’s £62.5m fee which makes a deal much more realistic for cash-strapped United. It seems talks have advanced since Wolves beat United 1-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League, where Cunha set up the only goal by winning a dangerous free-kick on the edge of the box.

United fans are split on the Cunha deal, with some expressing concerns about his attitude and work rate.

Looking back at comments from Wolves manager Vitor Pereira, it seems those concerns are valid.

Matheus Cunha’s ‘body language’ slammed by manager

Amorim is a big admirer of Cunha having praised the 25-year-old Brazilian in his pre-match press conference last week.

But it seems he could have his work cut out trying to keep Cunha motivated and in a good head space if he does make the move to Manchester.

Back in January, Cunha was slammed by his manager Pereira after Wolves suffered a 3-1 defeat to Chelsea.

As quoted by BeIN Sports, Pereira said: “He’s a captain. He can be frustrated as he wants to win, but everyone in the dressing room wants to win. I don’t like his body language.

“I want a captain to try to help the team with running, suffering and fighting together. But I understand it now – next time I won’t understand.”

The last thing Amorim and United need is another uncontrollable ego in the dressing room, so Ineos will need to do due diligence before chasing the deal further.

Amorim has already proven this season that he will not settle for any player not giving their absolute all for Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford was frozen out by Amorim after the United boss felt he wasn’t committing himself in training sessions.

Amorim demands United run like “mad dogs” and Cunha will find it difficult to ever thrive in Amorim’s system if he doesn’t meet those demands.

When discussing United’s terrible form in the Premier League, Amorim believes his side lacks physicality.

Any sign of poor body language or a lack of effort from Cunha and it could spell disaster for his time at Old Trafford.
