Manchester United fans are urging Erik ten Hag to drop Marcus Rashford from his starting XI for the forthcoming Champions League clash against Galatasaray.
Rashford, who inked a new deal with the club in the summer, has come under significant criticism this season over his lack of impact in the final third for United.
The 25-year-old United forward has scored only once and registered a single assist in his first seven Premier League starts for the Red Devils in the current campaign.
Rashford delivered an uninspiring performance in United’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday and was withdrawn in the second half for Christian Eriksen.
The England star was widely hailed for his impact at United last season after a remarkable turn in form, but United fans now want Ten Hag to drop Rashford.

United fans call for Rashford to be dropped
“Ten Hag must drop Rashford and start [Alejandro] Garnacho against Galatasaray,” one fan said.
Someone else added: “I don’t wanna see Rashford starting vs Galatasaray on [Tuesday].”
A third posted: “Time to drop Rashford until he starts fighting for his place in the starting [XI] again.”
“Rashford needs to be on the bench,” another user commented.
While one X, AKA Twitter, user wrote: “He [Garnacho] has to play and I think Rashford needs a spell on the bench.”
And a sixth fan tweeted: “If he is not putting Rashford [on] the bench, he [Ten Hag] should not say anything [at his pre-match press conference].”
Another said: “Maybe it’s time to drop Rashford for a string of [matches] to show that no-one in the team should feel untouchable. Another sub-par performance.”
Should Ten Hag drop Rashford?
Ten Hag is well aware of the pressure that is now mounting on Rashford and even admitted that the England star “knows he can do better” and backed him to do so.
It is likely the United boss will stick with Rashford for the upcoming Champions League clash, but Ten Hag will also know it’s a risk considering his player’s form.
Ten Hag himself is under growing criticism over this season’s start for United and the former Ajax manager simply cannot afford any more slip-ups in the short term.
The Red Devils are currently bottom of Group A in the Champions League after their 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena last month.
Second-place FC Copenhagen and third-place Galatasaray are only one point ahead of United, so Ten Hag’s men can’t afford to fall further behind their Group A rivals.
United will welcome Turkish side Galatasaray to Old Trafford on Tuesday evening, with kick-off for the Champions League clash scheduled for 8pm UK time.
