Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has come in for criticism after a poor performance against Crystal Palace.
With the benefit of hindsight, perhaps Erik ten Hag should have selected the same starting XI against Crystal Palace which he did in midweek in the Carabao Cup.
Ten Hag recalled big names including Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, and saw his team slip to a 1-0 defeat.
Now the manager has a few selection dilemmas ahead of this week’s matches against Galatasaray and then Brentford, including what to do with Marcus Rashford.

Dropping Marcus Rashford will make him think
Marcus Rashford’s performance was discussed in MUTV’s post-match review on the channel after Saturday’s defeat.
Former academy forward Fraizer Campbell was asked about the possibility of dropping Marcus Rashford.
He responded by saying he felt this could give the England international a much-needed jolt.
Campbell said: “Sometimes you get dropped out the team, you think ‘hang on a minute, I was star player last season, I did really well’, so it might change his mentality.
“He might train a bit harder, it might be something he needs to spur him on to play well in the next game
“He didn’t have a terrible game today, he didn’t have his best, he wasn’t involved in the game as much as you like to see him.
“You need to get him firing on all cylinders, so whether the manager takes him out the team, as the best option, or playing him through this rough period, who knows.”
Rashford has just one goal
Last season Marcus Rashford scored 30 goals for Manchester United, his best ever return.
However, his form did tail off towards the end of the season, and 2023/24 has carried on where he left off.
Rashford has scored only one goal, and failed to register a shot on target in the defeat against Crystal Palace.
United looked more fluid without him in midweek in the Cup. There are just two club games before the international break, and there is suddenly a real debate over whether Rashford should start either.
When he sat out the Carabao Cup game, it was viewed that he was simply being rested. That won’t be the case if he is not in the line-up against Galatasaray.
