Man United academy trio called up to England U18s including wonderkid who could debut vs Brighton

Two of Manchester United’s academy players have been called up to England Under-18s for the first time.

England’s Under-18s play two fixtures this month against Greece and Cyprus, and the squad has been announced, including three Manchester United youngsters.

England announced the full squad on X, including United trio Godwill Kukonki, Yuel Helafu and Albert Mills.

All three United players included in the squad are defenders. Kukonki and Mills are both centre-backs, while Helafu is a promising young right-back.

Godwill Kukonki, Yuel Helafu and Albert Mills get England call-up

All three United youngsters started in this month’s FA Youth Cup final against Manchester City, where United unfortunately suffered a 2-1 defeat.

Kukonki scored in the Youth Cup final and now he is set to join up with the Three Lions youth squad.

While Kukonki has previously been in the England Under-18s, it is a first call-up for Helafu and Mills, who have been important members of United’s U18s squad this season.

Godwill Kukonki on brink of Man Utd debut

It was under Ruben Amorim in late 2024 when Kukonki was promoted to first-team training at Carrington, and he has been in and out of the senior setup ever since.

Now at 18 years old, Kukonki is progressing brilliantly in United’s youth setup, and he is on the verge of a breakthrough.

According to reports, Kukonki is being considered for his senior United debut against Brighton this weekend.

United have nothing to play for having already secured a third-place finish. It would be a golden opportunity for Carrick to introduce some academy stars and Kukonki is first on the list.
