Manchester United have completed the signing of Rasmus Hojlund and his former clubs have been sending their congratulations.

United have been linked with a whole host of strikers over the summer with Erik ten Hag desperate to land a new frontman.

Forget Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani though, United have now picked out Hojlund as the man to lead the line.

Hojlund arrives after just nine league goals for Atalanta last season but Ten Hag clearly sees huge potential in the Dane.

Hojlund’s first season in the Premier League may see him come in and out of the United side as he adjusts to life in England.

The rise of Rasmus Hojlund

This move could barely have even been on Hojlund’s radar 18 months ago.

Hojlund was sold by Copenhagen after just five goals in 32 first-team games, allowing him to join Sturm Graz.

The 20-year-old exploded in Austria with 12 goals in 21 appearances, spending just seven months with Sturm Graz before Atalanta snapped him up.

Hojlund showed promise in Serie A with his combination of pace and power causing problems for defenders.

Add in six goals in six caps for Denmark and Hojlund has been on a quite meteoric rise, capped off with this huge move to boyhood club United.

United have struck a £72million deal for Hojlund and presented the striker at Old Trafford before Saturday’s friendly with Lens.

Hojlund’s former club send message after Manchester United deal

Hojlund has now taken to Instagram to celebrate joining ‘the biggest club in the world’ whilst thanking fans for a warm welcome.

The striker then received messages from his former clubs as Copenhagen responded by saying ‘congratulations Rasmus, respect’.

Sturm Graz added a clip of Hojlund during his time in Austria, applauding the Sturm fanbase.

It’s clear that Hojlund’s former clubs still think highly of the striker and are loving seeing his rise to stardom.

They will be watching Hojlund’s progress at United closely and will be looking for him to shine at Old Trafford.
