Manchester United have recently been linked with Luis Enrique as a head coach option and his latest comments at PSG prove he is an excellent choice.
Ineos have begun the process of hiring a permanent head coach for Manchester United in the summer, and the club chiefs have their work cut out for them.
Michael Carrick is on an unbeaten streak of five games since taking charge as interim head coach, and United fans want Carrick to stay permanently.
Should Luis Enrique be Manchester United’s top manager target in 2026?
Luis Enrique has been a success everywhere he has been…
But there are as many as 12 managers on United’s radar, including current PSG boss Luis Enrique.
While Wayne Rooney warned against hiring Enrique as a head coach option, his experience at the top of European football makes him a strong contender.

Luis Enrique is brilliant at managing player power
Not only does Enrique have a brilliant style of play that would entertain Old Trafford, but he has also got plenty of experience managing squads full of mega-stars.
He has been successful at Barcelona, Spain and now PSG. Ahead of the French club’s Champions League clash with Monaco, Enrique showed just how capable he is of keeping a lid on player power.
As quoted by ESPN, Enrique shut down any noise around Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele after he seemed to suggest that some players were being too selfish.

“The players’ statements are worthless,” Enrique said. “I’m not going to answer any question from a player, any response from a player.
“I will never allow any player to be above the club. So, it’s clear. I am the person responsible for the team.
“I will not allow any player to think that he is more important than the club. Not me, not the sporting director, not the president.
“So these statements are worthless. They are the result of anger after a match, and I think that’s clear. We have nothing to lose.”
Dembele started the match and PSG ended up winning 3-2 against Monaco despite going two goals down.
Man United are solving their player power issues
The dressing room atmosphere at United certainly seems better than what it has been in recent years. Previously, there have been accusations of player power being out of control.
Ruben Amorim improved the dressing room mood, and while his tenure will not be remembered fondly, he can at least take pride in that.
United are now ready for an elite head coach to take charge of what is a squad stacked with talent. Enrique should be at the very top of United’s list given his track record in Europe.

But, the Spaniard seems likely to extend his deal in Paris, which will rule him out of Ineos’ process.
If that is the case, United players support Carrick’s appointment, and they have proven in the last five games that they will give everything for him on the pitch.
