Long-term injured Manchester United ace ‘working hard’ for 2024 return after suffering set-back

Tyrell Malacia is set to return to Manchester United from his long-term in early 2024 after he suffered a set back following knee surgery.

One player who has missed the entire season to date including the pre-season tour is Tyrell Malacia who was out with a knee injury sustained in the early days back at Carrington in the summer.

Malacia has been out for so long that we imagine he has become an after thought for many Manchester United fans. The left-back however has been sorely missed given he was joined on the injury table by Luke Shaw which led to a revolving door of players in the position.

Shaw has recently returned and now Malacia seems to also be heading in that direction.

But after months of rehabilitation including reports a month ago that Malacia had returned to individual training, he finally appears to be on the right tracks.

Tyrell Malacia injury update

Club media have provided the update on Malacia’s fitness in a club statement on Friday.

They wrote: “The Dutch left-back has not played so far this season, following an operation over the summer.

“Unfortunately, he suffered a setback during his rehabilitation, which required further surgery.

“This has been successfully completed and Malacia is now back at Carrington and working hard to be fit early in the new year.”

Manchester United will be delighted with his return

Malacia nearing return should finally give that left-back position the depth and quality it needs to play the vital role it did last season.

The Dutch defender wasn’t a world beater last season by any means however it’s important to remember he had just arrived from Feyenoord.

It will have taken him a while to adapt, and with months of nothing but we imagine studying how United play, we expect we should see an improved Malacia once he is back to full-fitness.
