Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez hasn’t played for the club in months due to injury, but his return is getting close.
It is a real shame for Lisandro Martinez that he has faced such frustrating injury struggles for Manchester United because fans absolutely love the Argentine.
However, most recently, Martinez tore his ACL for United in February and that was seen as a potentially fatal blow for his future at the club considering the severity of the blow.
Martinez has missed months of action for United over his three seasons at the club, making his popularity and cult hero status all the more impressive.
However, Martinez is getting close to a return once again for United this summer, and this has seen him heading Stateside. Martinez was in the 32-man United squad which flew to Chicago.

Lisandro Martinez reveals how he is feeling ahead of Manchester United tour
At the start of pre-season, Martinez was spotted back at Carrington with fans heralding his return as being ‘like a new signing’.
No minutes nor training is expected during pre-season, however, it has been claimed that Martinez could return next month for United, with Manchester Evening News even suggesting he could face Arsenal.

To bond with the team, Martinez travelled with the squad to the USA, and he featured in Bruno Fernandes‘ video on the United YouTube channel.
Fernandes and Joshua Zirkzee asked Martinez how he is doing, and the Argentine had a positive update.
“I’m feeling so good and confident”, Martinez said.
Fernandes then responded to Martinez, zooming the camera in on the 27-year-old and complimenting his strength: “Legs look fit, strong.”
Martinez has been seen during pre-season walking around unaided without a limp and therefore recovery must be going well.
Lisandro Martinez return could be key for Ruben Amorim
Martinez’s injury came at an awful time for Manchester United and Ruben Amorim.
The Argentine was showcasing qualities which no other defender in the squad can, with his ability to bring the ball into midfield and play killer passes unparalleled in the squad, although Leny Yoro is showing signs of having his trait.
So when he can return, it will be huge for the club, as Martinez was key in beating Manchester City and drawing with Liverpool, due to his on ball abilities.
Martinez steps into the midfield seamlessly which gives United an extra body which is needed to protect the centre of the park, in the absence of a perfect ground covering midfielder.
It is all coming together for Amorim.
