Ruud van Nistelrooy will aim to break Manchester United’s Europa League winless run when they welcome PAOK to Old Trafford but before that, some good news has arrived on the injury front.

Manchester United sit in the 21st position in the Europa League table after three draws in three games and can’t afford to drop any more points if they want to finish in the top-eight.

Shola Shoretire will make his United return in the game and United might soon be able to see some returns of their own.

The injury situation looks to be clearing up a bit with time and Ruud van Nistelrooy has received a double boost ahead of the game, although neither looks a contender to play this one.

Leny Yoro injury update

Leny Yoro’s debut has been much-awaited since his metatarsal injury all the way back in pre-season forced him to be on the sidelines and have surgery.

With Ruben Amorim’s arrival and the three-at-the-back system with it, an additional vacancy is about to open up in central defence so Yoro will be much needed too.

It’s good then, that Yoro has started team training for the first time since his metatarsal injury. The Frenchman was spotted in team training ahead of the PAOK game.

Yoro has stepped up his recovery and his return to team training means that he could make his return to competitive action at the perfect timing. Yoro’s return to individual training happened earlier last month.

Ruben Amorim will take charge of his first game as Man Utd manager vs Ipswich on November 24 after the international break.

As it stands, it is likely that Yoro gets his debut in that game barring a setback or the team being extra cautious.

It was previously reported that Yoro is targeting the Arsenal trip on December 4 as the game to be perfectly match-fit for, so he should start getting minutes from November 24 onwards.

The two-week international break will allow him the perfect window to step up further in recovery and then only minutes under his belt will help him further.

Double Man Utd injury boost

United also received an additional boost alongside Yoro’s return to training as Antony was spotted back in training after looking like he had suffered a serious injury vs Fenerbahce.

The Brazilian had to be subbed off then despite coming on as a sub and the way he was stretchered off made it look like he’d be out for a long time.

Like Yoro, Antony will get a clean slate under Amorim and he could use a new lease of life in Amorim’s 3-4-3 where he might suit the left-wingback position.

His work rate and left-footedness could make him an ideal candidate but he will have to swallow his pride a bit since he looks most comfortable cutting in off the right to take shots on his stronger foot.

If he doesn’t improve quickly or show a willingness to change, he’ll be at the front of the exit queue since, as it stands, he’s effectively the personification of Erik ten Hag’s failure at Old Trafford.

Yoro and Antony are on the two opposite ends of the spectrum but both returns are welcome nonetheless as United enter a busy period of fixtures after the break, playing 12 games in 55 days.
