Leicester ace Fofana says Manchester United are one of the clubs he dreams about

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has been strongly linked with becoming Manchester United manager, with The MEN the latest to claim interest.

If this did happen, it would enhance the chances of defender Wesley Fofana making his way to Old Trafford too.

Fofana admitted last night that a switch to United is among his dream scenarios.

During a fans Q&A on Twitter Spaces, reported by GFFN, Fofana said Manchester United were one of three Premier League clubs he would consider.

A report from Footmercato claims that United are keeping an eye on Fofana’s situation, with Chelsea likely to be more aggressive in pursuit of his signature.

An outstanding prospect

Leicester signed Fofana from Saint-Etienne in 2020 with the defender penning a five-year deal.

While recruited with the future in mind, Fofana made an instant impact and become a trusted first team player, starting 27 Premier League games in his debut campaign.

Fofana impressed in league and cup matches against United last season and is still only 20-years-old.

His development was hurt by a bad tackle in a pre-season game causing a fractured fibula.

Fofana has been out ever since and is not expected to return until 2022.

Considering that a move would cost interested clubs in excess of £60 million, United or Chelsea won’t be bidding until Fofana has proven his fitness upon his return.

The real error on United’s part was not to gamble on Fofana in 2020 while he was at Saint-Etienne.

Hearing his desire to one day consider United is always good, and shows the pulling power the club has.

Perhaps in a couple of years this might be a deal United look to do, if he is still at Leicester.
