Manchester United are not short on unwanted players who need shifting this summer.
Aside from offloading Alexis Sanchez, organising outgoings for unwanted players have hit something of an impasse.
There might be a breakthrough in the case of Marcos Rojo, however, according to La Repubblica, via Solo LaLazio.
Rojo spent the latter half of last season on loan at Estudiantes but has since returned to Manchester.
The report claims United have set a 8 million euros (£7.1 million) asking price for Rojo and Lazio view him as a possible option to improve their defence.
United lowering their expectations
Last August, the Daily Star reported United wanted £25 million from Everton for Rojo.
As per the tweet above from TalkSport’s Alex Crook, a move taking Rojo to Goodison Park for that price was all but done.
Only for United, as per the Daily Mail, to cause the deal to collapse by changing their demands at the last minute on deadline day.
This summer, they appear to expect £18 million less than that figure should Rojo depart.

United paying the price
The Mail report said United ‘changed the parameters’ of that planned deal last summer.
Whether that relates to demanding more money, or simply not wanting to sell to another Premier League club, United are still paying the price.
Instead of offloading a player the Times reported in January 2020 earns £160,000 per week, we had to pay him for another season.
Meanwhile, he made just three Premier League appearances in 2019/20.
Rojo looks to have no future at the club and United need to get his wages off the bill this summer.
From that point of view, the new lower asking price makes sense. But it just goes to show the cost of failing to get that sale to Everton over the line in 2019.
