‘Lack of respect’… Tim Howard speaks out on Manchester United issues

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard believes there is a lack of respect from players towards Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United suffered a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United which really could have been a lot worse had the Geordie side taken the multiple chances they had in the game.

The talk, however, after the game from Roy Keane and Gary Neville was that certain players in the side were not giving their all for the Dutchman.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have received the brunt of the criticism since Saturday’s defeat to Newcastle and it’s hard to disagree with this.

Howard on players disrespecting Ten Hag

As mentioned, Tim Howard, who was a goalkeeper at Old Trafford, believes the players are to blame and the 53-year-old is being thrown under the bus.

“Players will take any excuse to bottle it, they’ll take any excuse to say it’s not my fault,’ the American said on NBC.

“He’s fallen out with Varane, Maguire, Rashford, Sancho, Martial. And I’m thinking I’ve played for teams under Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes, big personalities. You know, they have one or two example-making moments and then everyone else falls in line.

“They don’t continually fall out with players. So I think there’s a lack of respect there.”

United’s players are trying

Contrary to popular belief, the players are trying for the manager. The comeback victories this season against the likes of Nottingham Forest and Brentford prove that to be the case.

What needs improvement, however, are the team’s tactics. The Red Devils look so defensively open at this moment in time and that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.

Victor Lindelof has spoken out recently and has revealed his teammates are firmly behind the Dutchman so it does just seem to be the tactical aspect of the game that needs improving.

If the Dutchman can get the tactics right then expect the Red Devils to go on a similar winning run of form that they did last season.
