Joshua Zirkzee is looking to reset after a nightmare for Manchester United against Newcastle in his previous game.

There were already doubts over Joshua Zirkzee‘s future at Manchester United before the game against Newcastle.

At Old Trafford, Zirkzee was substituted after just 32 minutes – although to be fair around three other United players could have been hooked off too.

It was a humiliating experience, with Zirkzee walking off down the tunnel, before re-emerging and watching the rest of the game with his teammates.

Joshua Zirkzee backed

Joshua Zirkzee signed for Manchester United in the summer from Bologna, and rumours have persisted that the club could sell him this January.

Letting Zirkzee go so soon would be unusual, yet United’s delicate financial balance with PSR means the club could have to sell to buy.

Former Premier League striker Jurgen Klinsmann believes United should stay the course with Zirkzee.

Klinsmann tells ESPN: “He’s so talented, very talented, I saw him break through in Italy and I firmly believe he can succeed at Manchester United and play a big role there.

“Right now he comes at a phase of United that is in a turbulence, its difficult. For him its difficult tp be part of the dressing room, to make friends, its tough to find his path.

“When you see his talent, his potential, how he can connect with his teammates, he can play from the left, from the right, he can play in the middle as a striker, he has so many different cards in his pocket.

“I am sure United can benefit from him down the road. This kid is special, he’s good, I would just let him grow.”

Zirkzee wants to fight on

Moments like Zirkzee experienced could prompt a player to give up, especially when there is such interest in bringing him back to Italy.

Zirkzee stayed on at Old Trafford after the game to applaud supporters, and he is said to be ready to fight on at United, until he is told otherwise.

United are invested in Zirkzee’s success, he was the club’s first signing of the transfer window.

New head coach Ruben Amorim has not given up on him either, the fact he selected him as a starter against Newcastle in the first place indicated he had faith in him. What comes next, between now and the end of the season, will decide his fate in the summer.
