The highs at Manchester United have been immediately followed by extreme lows for Joshua Zirkzee, with the nadir coming during the Newcastle game.
What started as the dream Man Utd debut, scoring the winner at the Stretford End to win a Premier League game, saw him get cheered off with the team looking ready to submit to a defeat.
In between, positive moments have been few and far between, with United often asking Joshua Zirkzee to be the player he isn’t, and the player not even doing the things he excelled at.
He has entered into a vicious cycle where bad performances breed low confidence which leads to bad performances and so on.
It has gotten so bad that there are reports of United looking to sell Zirkzee only six months after he joined in what was then deemed a bargain for a unique player coming off the best season of his career.

Man Utd exploring Joshua Zirkzee transfer
It is easy to look at Zirkzee’s stats and his performances and declare him a flop who was never going to succeed at Old Trafford but the picture couldn’t have been more different in the summer.
Zirkzee rejected the advances of Juventus and Thiago Motta, the coach who got the best out of him, to move to a new country where he hadn’t played before.
After six torturous months, his reputation in Italy has apparently not dented at all, which probably means people over there United are not using his correctly.
Recent reports indicated that Juventus are again interested in him and they are joined in the suitor’s list by Antonio Conte’s Napoli, where Scott McTominay has flourished.
It is undoubtedly an enticing prospect for United, especially if they can get all the money back on him but at the same time, it would be an embarrassing climbdown to cut their losses on the signing of a player who effectively kicked off the Ineos regime.
It could be worth investing in Zirkzee’s development and see him in a more functional system and the player’s response to the speculation surrounding his future shows they’ve got a good character in there.
Joshua Zirkzee’s response to interest a positive sign
Instead of sulking or being accepting of his fate, Zirkzee is ready to fight to secure his future at the club, not ready to take the first route out of the club, The Daily Mail reports.
In a team where mentality has been touted as a big problem for so long, it is a refreshing change of pace to see a struggling player at his lowest come out with a fighting response to the adversity.
He still might not succeed at United but he’s making sure that it won’t have anything to do with his lack of effort or determination.
Sometimes that’s all a club can ask for and at United, been missing far too often. The opposite example is right there too, with Marcus Rashford publicly asking for a new challenge after being dropped from one matchday squad.
Amorim seems determined to back Zirkzee, the player is determined to fight for his future, and the board will be reluctant to sell him so soon.
Zirkzee has always been a system player so it’s no surprise that he’s struggling in a team that has no system as of now. Perhaps with time, he will make these suggestions of a transfer look silly.
