Getafe boss Jose Bordalas has made a U-turn over his claims Jude Bellingham played a deciding role in bringing Mason Greenwood to La Liga.

Mason Greenwood made the move from Manchester United to Getafe on deadline day after a series of moves collapsing.

The deal offers 21-year-old Greenwood a lifeline in his career with there already seeming to be a positive atmosphere for him in Spain.

A move transpired after Manchester United released a statement which effectively meant Greenwood wouldn’t be reintegrated into the United squad.

Therefore a move became of the upmost importance for United and the player so he could escape the intense media spotlight on the club at Old Trafford.

Now speaking after the player’s debut for Getafe, Greenwood’s new boss Jose Bordalas has spoken to clarify his earlier comments.

Bordalas now denies Jude Bellingham was behind move

Ahead of Getafe’s home game against Osasuna this Sunday, Bordalas spoke with the press. He discussed Greenwood’s move to the club and claimed Jude Bellingham played a vital role in the deal.

Speaking to Radio Marca, Bordalas said: “Greenwood is friends with Bellingham, and he advised him to come to the Spanish league.”

However, The Athletic report Bellingham’s entourage were unhappy with the comments and Getafe’s manager has since issued a clarification.

He said: “I wanted to clear up a misunderstanding there has been. I said that Mason Greenwood came to Getafe because he had spoken to Bellingham.

“It has been clarified to me that this was not the case. I apologise. Mason arrived in a different way. It was our interest and they offered him to me and we were very interested. I just wanted to clarify that, it was not a bad intention.”
