Manchester United have hired a new member of staff responsible for organising and monitoring loan deals.
Last season, Jonny Evans returned to Manchester United as a loan manager, but he now finds himself as part of Michael Carrick’s coaching staff.
With Carrick set to be appointed permanently, Evans can expect to stay on at Old Trafford in the backroom staff.
With as many as 16 United players out on loan this season, it was important for Ineos to find a suitable replacement, and the new staff member has now been confirmed.

How would you RATE Jason Wilcox’s performance for Manchester United as DOF?
Is the criticism unfair? Or should Ineos be looking to replace Wilcox with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or a more experienced sporting director?
Man United hire Gareth Whalley as new loans manager
As reported by the Daily Mail, United have hired Gareth Whalley as Evans’ replacement as loans manager.
Whalley was hired from Manchester City, where he was a loan co-ordinator at since 2011. When Evans left, Whalley initially joined United on a part-time basis.
The report adds that Whalley has a close relationship with sporting director Jason Wilcox from their time together at City.
Wilcox was City’s academy director, and in 2014, he spent time with Whalley running their Under-18s side.
Whalley is described as a “hands-on character” when dealing with players out on loan. He is the latest staff member to jump from City to United after Wilcox, CEO Omar Berrada, academy director Stephen Torpey, assistant Under-21s coach Alan Wright, and head of academy football development and methodology Darren Hughes.
Next season Jack Fletcher will be…

Jack Fletcher and Tyler Fletcher subject to loan interest
It is no secret that United are planning to overhaul their midfield in the summer transfer window, and that could leave very little space for academy stars to break through.
There are reports that United will promote one academy midfielder, but it seems Jim Thwaites is best positioned to take advantage.
The Daily Mail report above claims that the Fletcher twins, Jack and Tyler, have received interest in a potential loan deal.

Clubs in League One and in Scotland are said to be interested in the Fletcher duo. Tyler Fletcher won the Denzil Haroun Player of the Year Award this week following his success in the Under-21s.
It could be up to Whalley to source a loan move for the Fletcher duo and ensure they continue to progress away from Carrington.
