James Garner receives high praise for "commanding display" vs Leicester
Nottingham Forest knocked the holders Leicester City out of the FA Cup with Manchester United loanee James Garner playing a starring role.
After shocking Arsenal at the City Ground in the third round, Steve Cooper’s side swarmed all over Brendan Rodgers’ side.
In the comprehensive 4-1 win against the Foxes yesterday, Garner set up Forest’s third via a corner which captain Joe Worrall nodded home.
It was the midfielder’s second assist via a corner in the space of a week after Keinan Davis scored in injury time, in last Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City.

While Garner has two assists to his name in the space of seven days from corners, Manchester United have taken over 120 corners this season and are yet to open their account. Food for thought indeed.
James Garner shines against Premier League opposition again
Coming up against one of the best midfield pairings in the Premier League in Youri Tielemans and Wilfred Ndidi, Garner relished the battle and more than rose to the occasion.
The England under-21 international finished the game with 47 touches, 83% passing accuracy, seven ball recoveries, five successful long passes, two successful crosses and created two chances.
He also won three duels, made one clearance, one tackle and blocked one shot.
Local newspaper NottinghamshireLive gave Garner a 9/10 rating for his performance.
The report read: “Ran the show in midfield with a commanding display. Set-pieces caused plenty of problems, including setting up Worrall’s goal. Another masterclass.”
The 20-year-old’s performance also drew high praise from both Manchester United and Nottingham Forest teammates on Instagram.
With fellow Championship side Huddersfield Town drawn to face Forest at the City Ground for a spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals, Cooper’s side will fancy their chances of extending their dream cup run.
With Donny van de Beek ineligible to play for Everton in the FA Cup, Brandon Williams, on loan at Norwich City who were drawn against Liverpool in the fifth round, is the only other Manchester United player still involved in the prestigious cup competition.
Forest attentions will turn back to climbing the Championship table. The former European champions sit eight in the table, two points off the play-off places with 17 league games to be played.
