Jadon Sancho’s old shirt number at Borussia Dortmund has now been taken after the Manchester United misfit ended his loan spell with the German club.
The 24-year-old Manchester United winger made his sensational return to Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window as part of a six-month loan deal.
Jadon Sancho had been frozen out of the first team in the 2023-24 campaign at Old Trafford after his falling out with United manager Erik ten Hag.
The former Dortmund star made only three Premier League appearances for United last season before he was left out of the squad for the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.
Erik ten Hag publicly revealed why Sancho failed to make the matchday squad before the United misfit hit back in a bombshell statement on social media.
Sancho was excluded from the United first team in the aftermath of his spat with Ten Hag, with the Red Devils player reportedly refusing to apologise.

Sancho’s Dortmund shirt number taken
Jadon Sancho received a lifeline away from Old Trafford with his move to Borussia Dortmund and secured regular playing time during his loan spell.
The former England international made 21 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund and scored twice and registered three assists with the club.
Sancho also came within touching distance of the Champions League trophy, only for Dortmund to suffer a 2-0 defeat to Real Madid in the final at Wembley in June.
The ex-Three Lions winger made his return to Old Trafford after his second spell with Dortmund came to an end in June.
However, Sancho’s long-term future at Old Trafford remains uncertain amid his fractured relationship with United boss Erik ten Hag.
Dortmund on Thursday confirmed that Sancho’s old shirt number of 10, which he wore last season, would now belong to Julian Brandt for next season.
“Introducing our new #10,” the club wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Sancho had previously worn the No 7 during his scintillating first spell at the German club, but the United misfit switched to No 10 for his loan spell.
Why Dortmund won’t sign Sancho permanently
Sancho is out of contract with Dortmund in 2026 and has been linked with a move away from United, with Juventus believed to be one of the clubs interested in him.
Dortmund previously ruled out the idea of signing Sancho on a permanent basis due to their limited financial spending power to make big-money acquisitions.
Speaking to Sky Sport Germany in February, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said: “Unfortunately for both players, neither option was realistic [Sancho and Ian Maatsen].
“If you know what we got for Jadon Sancho two-and-a-half years ago, then you know also that it might not be very, very difficult.
“We naturally advocated for an option on him – and also with Ian – but the negotiating position was not such that we could implement it and so we will accept it for now.”
