Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has reportedly been the subject of “calls from many clubs” after his exit from Old Trafford this summer.
That’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has claimed that Anthony Martial is ‘open’ to playing in a new league in his post-Manchester United career.
Martial became a free agent on 1st July after his contract with the Red Devils expired, marking the end of his hit-and-miss nine-year stay at Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old Frenchman only managed 19 appearances in his last season at United and only scored twice and registered a single assist.
Martial had missed a large part of the second half of the season due to an injury, with the former United star finally allowed to leave the Red Devils this summer.
The former France international was loved by certain United fans for his sporadic moments of brilliance, but Martial was often criticised for his lack of consistency.
Signed from French side Monaco in 2015, Martial became the world’s most expensive teenage footballer at the time after his initial £36m transfer to United.
Martial, whose move to United could rise to £58m if all add-ons were met, scored 90 times during his 317 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils.

Romano talks Martial’s transfer options
Fabrizio Romano took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and provided an update on Anthony Martial after he became a free agent.
He reported that the former Manchester United striker could move to a new league after he turned down ‘several approaches’ from clubs in England.
Romano ruled out the idea of Besiktas signing Martial after the Turkish side inched closer to signing Lazio and Italy striker Ciro Immobile.
However, free agent Martial is still being eyed up after his Old Trafford exit and has ‘received calls from many clubs.’
Romano revealed that newly promoted Serie A outfit Como are one of the clubs interested in Martial, who will make his decision in the “next [few] weeks.”
“Anthony Martial, open to new league as he’s already turned down several approaches from England,” he tweeted.
“No move to Besiktas while they’re close to signing Ciro Immobile, Martial has received calls from many clubs including Como.
“His decision will be made in the next [few] weeks.”
Martial on his Man Utd spell and exit
Martial admitted that he was ready to “take on new challenges” in his post-United career after he announced his departure from Old Trafford.
Speaking on his Instagram in May, he wrote to fans: “I would also like to express my gratitude to all my teammates, technical staff and all the members of the club I have met during my [nine] years here. I am proud to have been able to share these experiences with you.
“Manchester United will always be in my heart. This club has left its mark on my career and offered me an incredible opportunity to play in front of you.
“I’m leaving to take on new challenges, I’ll always be a Red Devil and I’ll continue to follow the club’s results with passion.
“Thank you again for everything, and see you soon. With all my affection, Anthony Martial.”
