Isak Hansen Aaroen has opened up about his decision to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Erik ten Hag and Manchester United decided to allow the Norwegian midfielder to leave the club this summer with a move lined up to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.
There was some concern from fans of the Red Devils when the club decided to let go of the 19-year-old with there being some considerable excitement over the attacking midfielder.
In January, the club let go of the talented academy trio of Isak Hansen-Aaroen permanently, while loan deals with options for Alvaro Fernandez and Hannibal Mejbri also worried some of the fanbase.

Hansen-Aaroen on his decision to leave the club
Speaking to German outlet Deichstube, Isak Hansen-Aaroen has revealed the reason behind his decision to move away from Old Trafford.
“Now for me, it’s about proving myself in training and showing everyone what I can do,” he told the German outlet.
“It was time for me to take the next step and go to a club where I could get more opportunities and show how good I am. This is definitely the step I want to take now. That was one of the reasons why I came here. I want to play men’s football now and I feel ready for it.
“I will certainly do my workouts, but I definitely want to keep a certain pace in my game. I’m a very technical player and I hope it’s fun to watch me play. I like to dribble and always give my best when I’m on the pitch.”
Quoted further via Sportschau, Hansen-Aaroen said he was won over by Werder Bremen manager Ole Werner: “I talked to him about how I can develop and what my chances are – and that sounded very good to me.”
Asked about his playing style, he responded: “Sometimes to calm the game down and keep the ball, sometimes to make things quick and initiate counterattacks.”
The Norwegian midfielder departed the club without making a single appearance for the Red Devils and was reportedly frustrated about missing out on the first team for the FA Cup game against Wigan.
United’s favourable deal
The club sold the Norwegian for a favourable price with there being a large sell-on clause in the midfielder’s deal with the German side.
Hansen-Aaroen certainly looked to be a promising player in the academy side but that didn’t necessarily mean he would be good enough for the first team.
With the sheer amount of academy players coming through at this moment in time, the Norwegian may well have slipped down the pecking order had he stayed at the club.
