Manchester United’s fans’ reaction to the potential departure of Norwegian midfielder Isak Hansen-Aaroen is very telling.

Isak Hansen-Aaroen was reportedly frustrated that he didn’t receive any game-time during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third Round.

Erik ten Hag decided to field a very strong team against their EFL League One opposition and this was understandable considering England’s oldest cup competition is the only trophy they could realistically win this season.

However, this caused some frustration with the Old Trafford faithful as a plethora of young and exciting players did not receive a first-team opportunity when they perhaps should have.

United fans react

Well, as you would expect, the United fans are not happy with this news over Hansen Aaroen’s potential departure with many venting their frustrations online.

One United fan related this situation to that of Angel Gomes, who left the Red Devils on a free transfer and is now a key man for French side Lille, and said: “Extend and loan pls, we don’t need another Gomes situation, man.”

Another fan agreed with this sentiment and said: “Extend, set a proper plan for him and loan him out.”

A third fan believes that the Norwegian isn’t good enough for the first team yet: “We need to loan him out. Won’t sell for much and wants game time. He could be a quality player, but nowhere near first-team level yet.”

Another comment read simply, “Free Isak Hansen-Aaroen.”

Some believe that the midfielder could be more suited to the first team than Scott McTominay: “Keep, one of our best players, if McTominay can play for Utd then this guy should be good enough to play for us.”

“He never kicked on. Looked like a decent talent. But he’s not first team ready,” said one United fan and another agreed with that sentiment and said: “Had high hopes (for him) a few years ago but hasn’t kicked on there’s better in the academy.”

Hansen-Aaroen’s decision

It looks like the Norwegian midfielder will have a decision to make over his future at the club as Ten Hag seemingly doesn’t believe he is good enough to start for the Red Devils.

Despite impressing against Leeds United during pre-season, the Norwegian has been limited to under-21 football which will rightly worry the Old Trafford fanbase.

If he doesn’t believe he will get first-team opportunities at Old Trafford then he really should move away from the club.

Some of Europe’s top sides are understood to be interested with Atletico Madrid and Ajax just two of these interested parties, according to the Manchester Evening News.
