Four United under 18s tipped for big things with Erik ten Hag aware of one talent in particular

There are four Manchester United under-18 players who the club believes could be vital in years to come.

It’s no secret that the Manchester United academy is the most important aspect of the club with their proud tradition continuing recently with Omari Forson becoming to 249th academy graduate to debut for the Red Devils.

Recently, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho have been shining examples of this method working and it looks like there could well be another exciting crop coming through.

United’s under-18s are top of the league with 12 wins from 12 and beat rivals Manchester City 1-0 and there are a contingent of players in the academy squad who are being kept a very close eye on.

Four academy stars being watching

According to a report from Steve Bates in The Mirror, there are believed to be four academy prospects causing excitement at Old Trafford with Erik ten Hag alert to the potential of one in particular.

Jack Fletcher, son of ex-United midfielder Darren Fletcher, is one as is Jayce Fitzgerald.

15-year-old Amir Ibragimov is believed to be another and the fourth is Shea Lacey, with Ten Hag reportedly made aware of his potential and there is a building excitement over the winger and indeed the academy team, mainly due to the first team’s poor performances.

Promoting from within is what United does best and there is certainly some special talent in the academy setup, particularly the under-18 side who look like a superb group.

Ten Hag’s academy chance

There have been calls for the club to make the crucial managerial change this summer but if Ten Hag does stay at the club going into the next campaign, you wonder if this crop of exciting talent could feature.

It would be a statement of intent to include some of these incredibly talented academy players in the squad and this could be something to turn Ten Hag’s doubters into believers.

Handing academy players their chance is what United is all about and with this quartet, it may not be a while before we see the club’s 250th academy graduate feature for the first team.
